43 riders cover 3.5 km in the last stage of the mountain bike race

The route was traced between the village of Sanglarwala which has narrow roads but is covered in beautiful views of apple orchids.

The final stage of the inaugural MTB Himachal mountain Biking Festival Janjehli saw 43 riders compete over a 3.5 kilometer course. The route was traced between the village of Sanglarwala which has narrow roads but is covered in beautiful views of apple orchids.

Aiming to promote cycle tourism in Himachal Pradesh and the beautiful tracks and trails the state has to offer, the event also offered cyclists an opportunity to challenge the mighty ascent of the Himalayas.

Stage 3 of the competition had runners from different categories. While the Under 16 category had to cover four laps of the total distance, the other categories had to cover six laps of the total distance.

On June 26, MTB Himachal found a special mention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his radio program “Mann ki Baat”. The Prime Minister called the event a unique initiative.

At the award distribution event, Dr Sadhna Thakur – wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur – cheered on the runners. She also thanked the Himalayan Adventure Sports & Tourism Promotion Association and other organizers for organizing such events which promote local tourism and help “find hidden gems” that nature has to offer.

She said events like these have brought tourism and employment to villages like Janjehli.
