Lewis Hamilton’s father reveals how his star son broke his heart

Lewis Hamilton has almost achieved everything Formula 1 has to offer. And as he often mentions, he owes much of his success to his father, Anthony, for the sacrifices he made to make Hamilton the seven-time world champion that he is. Hamilton has always been very grateful for his father’s role in his life. But here is a shocking revelation.

Anthony was fired by his son from his managerial position in early 2010 which, as the Brit mentioned, broke his heart.

On the “Lewis Hamilton” episode of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman,” Anthony revealed how he felt about parting ways with Lewis as manager.

When asked if the decision was mutual, the world champion’s father replied, “Definitely not. Broke my heart. Ever since he started at eight, we used to have a father-son handshake ‘Be careful, love yourself, do the best you can’.

“Every time he went racing. And in 2010, that was it. Everything stopped. Yeah, that was tough. We didn’t communicate for probably that year and the second year,” said Anthony.

But since then, Hamilton and his father have surely repaired the bridges. The Mercedes driver even recalled the moment he won his 7th title and had flashbacks to his childhood with his father.
